Over eight years’ experience and certified as a Master Celebrant through Celebrant Academy, Joan has received training in rituals, ceremony writing, and public speaking.
Joan is passionate about officiating weddings and other celebrations and makes sure that each ceremony she officiates is unique and meaningful. She honors the background and relationships of people from all walks of life with their words carefully crafted into each ceremony.

Joan Fergus
Joan has a Master’s of Science Degree in Education from the University of Colorado and has spent over 20 years working with children and adults with special needs, along with teaching health and wellness programs in the community. She spent 12 years in the creative world of Waldorf education… as a parent of a Waldorf student and as the Enrollment Director in a Waldorf School.
Joan became ordained as a non-denominational wedding minister in 2013., starting out training with an experienced officiant and creating ‘Ceremonies by Joan’ in 2018. she became a certified Master Professional Celebrant through Celebrant Academy in 2021.
Officiating weddings is her passion, as she enjoys the connections she has with couples, helping them create a wedding ceremony that uniquely expresses their love and commitment. Joan has two adult children and lives in Racine, WI. She also serves as a substitute teacher, Her joy is making a difference in the life of others. She lives near Lake Michigan and enjoys sailing and kayaking…her happy place in on the water and renovating the family homestead in Racine.
